Kabil issues decision to define small, medium, micro firms

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of trade and industry Tarek Kabil has issued a decision to identify small, medium, and micro companies as per Law no. 15 of 2017, which aims to facilitate the procedures for providing licences to industrial facilities.

The new decision divides industrial facilities as per three levels, namely: medium, small and micro enterprises, the ministry’s statement released Thursday showed.

Medium industrial enterprises are those whose annual business operations are not less than EGP 50 million and do not exceed EGP 200 million, Kabil said.

As for new firms which do not have a business volume, their paid-up capital must not be less than EGP 5 million and not exceed EGP 15 million.

Meanwhile, the decision specified that small industrial enterprises are those who conduct industrial activities on a yearly basis at no less than EGP 1 million and no more than EGP 50 million, the statement showed.

Finally, micro industrial enterprises are those whose annual business does not EGP 1 million.

Under the decision, paid-up capital for new establishments that do not have business volume shall not exceed EGP 50,000.
